The mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) induced mammary tumor model has been used to identify genetic pathways that when altered by insertional mutation, contribute to mouse mammary tumorigenesis. The rationale is that mutations in some of the same pathways may also be contributors to human breast cancer.

In our study we used MMTV insertions to determine if these integration events are the driving force in the transition from a pre-malignant lesion to malignant tumor to metastasis.

In order to study the insertion locations and the genes near by we have sequenced the clones from mammary tumors and mapped them to mouse genome version 9 using the BLAT program. The genomic locations obtained were then used to determine the Common Integration Sites using cluster analysis described in Mikkers.et.,al. Microarray analysis was also performed on selected tumors to get their expressions data.

The CIS tool can be used to generate CIS gene clusters for any viral insertion data

Visualize has a unique visualization tool where we have displayed the microaaray results based on their genomic location.
